A Quiet Time at Christmas
Have you ever felt that the true meaning of Christmas is lost in the hustle and bustle of the shopping and parties, the tree trimming, Christmas caroling, rushing through the airport at the last minute and all those family traditions that we feel we absolutely must uphold? Do you always wear yourself to a frazzle, make yourself sick or feel blue because you know your efforts will never live up to everyone's expectations of a perfect Christmas? Do you just get tired of a Christmas that means family squabbles and being in debt for months after that special present has long been forgotten?
There's just one week until the big day. Wouldn't it feel great to sit with your feet up tonight and relax? Give yourself permission to have some quiet time. Take a moment to remember what Christmas is really about.
There was a great celebration on that first Christmas. Of course, it was mainly in heaven, the angels sang and invited the shepherds to the party. Jesus wasn't at all what people expected in a king. Being born in a stable, very few people had even heard about Him until thirty years later. There wasn't a Special News Bulletin broadcast, no change of status was announced on Facebook and no one Twittered about Him. The good news about Jesus spread from one believer to the next through the years until He is now known all over the world.
Jesus is the reason for the season. Lord and Savior, the Prince of Peace, Jesus is what Christmas is all about.
Praying that the peace of Jesus fills your heart this Christmas.
